New York State law dictates that all Armored Car Guard’s must go through an application process and a background fingerprint check before he/she is issued a New York State Security Guard’s License. To obtain your Security Guard License you must complete these steps:
STEP 1: YOU MUST BE FINGERPRINTED FOR THE APPLICATION:
FINGERPRINT REQUIREMENTS: Applicants have access to electronic fingerprinting through IdentoGo by MorphoTrust USA.
Electronic Fingerprinting Procedure:
Schedule Appointment: Applicants may schedule appointments with IdentoGo by MorphoTrust USA. To schedule an appointment at a location near you, visit their website at www.identogo.com or call 877-472-6915. For scheduling purposes, you must utilize the required Service Code 1545J5.
Proof of electronic fingerprint completion: Upon completion of the fingerprint process, the vendor will provide you with two receipts as proof of fingerprint completion. Include one receipt with the completed application.
Please Note: Fingerprint receipts are valid for 5 months from the date of fingerprinting. Please submit original application within 5 months from the date of fingerprinting. Failure to submit your application within this time period will require you to complete the fingerprint process again.
Fingerprint fees: All fees for fingerprinting are payable to MorphoTrust USA. Total Amount to Submit: $88.50.
STEP 2: SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR US TO ASSIST YOU WITH THE APPLICATION:
Gold Shield Training Center offers assistance with completing the application for a fee of $20.00. You must schedule an appointment by contacting 914-667-7449. (Walk-ins will not be processed) You MUST have all of the following items with you to be processed.
- New York State Driver’s License or New York State ID Card
- Bank or Postal Money Order for $50.00 payable to NYS Dept of State
- Fingerprint Receipt from MorphoTrust USA
- Copy of the Front and Back of your Pistol Permit
- 47 Hour Firearms Training Course Certificate
- Cash or Money Order for $20.00 payable to Gold Shield Training Center
- * Certificate of Disposition (if you were ever arrested)
- Retired Law Enforcement Personnel must also have your Retired Law Enforcement ID, Good Guy Letter, and the Police Academy Certificate.
Once the application is completed, you will mail out the application to the NYS Department of State and your Armored Car Guard License will be mailed directly to your mailing address.
Once you have obtained your Armored Car Guard License, an 8 Hour Annual Firearms Training Course must be completed each year.
*Certificate of Disposition is a document you receive explaining the outcome of an arrest. If you had two arrests, you should have two Certificates of Dispositions. You can obtain a copy of your Certificate of Disposition from the courthouse of the jurisdiction you were arrested in. (For example: If you were arrested in Mount Vernon, NY then you would need to obtain a copy from the City of Mount Vernon Courthouse.)
